There are 4 primary ways a visitor can land on a given website. First is by using a search engine - The potential visitor enters a keyword and if the site includes that keyword in it, the visitor is sent to the page with the searched keyword. This traffic is indicated as Search Traffic. The second one, and may be the most important, is the direct traffic - The potential visitor knows about the website or the webpage from TV, Radio or rumors and enter directly the site address. Bookmarks and software links lead directly to the website developer thus counting as Direct Traffic. The third one is the Referral Traffic - The visitor is led to the website or webpage from a link in another website or webpage that is on a different domain. And the fourth traffic is from posts in social networks, that is similar to the referal traffic, but is more liberal. Some analytics indicate it as Social Traffic. |
