World Population Dynamics
In demographics, the world population is the total number of humans currently living on Earth, which was estimated to have reached the monumental 7.7 billion mark in April 2019. It took over 200,000 years of human history for the world's population to reach 1 billion, but only about 200 years more to reach 7 billion! This shows a staggering exponential growth curve over recent centuries.
Six of the Earth's seven continents are permanently inhabited on a large scale. Asia is by far the most populous continent, with over 4.5 billion inhabitants accounting for roughly 60% of the world population. In fact, the world's two most populated countries—China and India—together constitute about 36% of all humanity!

When you drag a country's flag, you will see a visual representation of a native citizen. Drop the flag into the correct population count slot on the world population diagram at the bottom of the screen. Sort all 10 countries correctly to win the game!

• Rapid Growth: Total annual births globally peaked in the late 1980s at about 139 million per year. As of the early 2010s, this rate was expected to remain relatively constant, while annual deaths were projected to increase towards 80 million per year by 2040.
