Capitals of North America Puzzle: Geography Game

The Capitals of North America Puzzle is a free educational map game designed to help students master the administrative and political hubs of the continent. Featuring 14 major countries (plus Greenland), this interactive drag-and-drop exercise is perfect for learning the geography of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It serves as an excellent "Minute to win it" tool for online lessons, interactive classes, and exciting homework assignments.

Exploring North American Capitals

A capital city is the municipality enjoying primary status in a country, state, or region, usually as its seat of government. North America is the third-largest continent by area and boasts incredibly diverse political landscapes—from the icy reaches of Greenland's Nuuk to the tropical vibes of Panama City.

Learning these capitals is crucial for understanding global politics, historical colonization (as many cities show distinct European architectural and naming influences), and the modern economic centers of the Western Hemisphere.

How to play Capitals of North America Puzzle

At the start of the game, 14 movable pieces representing a capital building icon will appear on the left side of the screen. Drag and drop each capital icon into the correct country borders on the outlined map to the right. When a picture is grabbed, the name of the capital is revealed. If placed incorrectly, it returns to the starting tray to be placed again. The game ends when all 14 capitals are placed correctly!
