Flags of North America Quiz: Geography Game

The Flags of North America Quiz is a free educational game designed to help you memorise the national banners of the 15 largest countries in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Test your vexillology skills in this interactive exercise! It is a brilliant "Minute to win it" tool for geography lessons, remote learning, and testing your visual memory of international flags.

Banners of the North American Continent

Flags are powerful symbols of national identity, history, and culture. The countries of North and Central America feature some of the most recognisable flags in the world, from the iconic Canadian Maple Leaf to the Stars and Stripes of the United States.

Studying these banners helps students understand regional similarities and distinct historical paths. For example, the flags of several Central American nations (like Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador) share similar blue and white horizontal stripes, a nod to their shared history in the Federal Republic of Central America.

How to play Flags of North America Quiz

At the start of the game, a target country and its location on the map of North America will be highlighted on the right side of the screen. On the left, you will be presented with a choice of 6 different flags. Your objective is to click the correct flag that matches the highlighted country! The player who matches all 15 countries with the least number of wrong tries is the ultimate winner. The quiz is completed when all 15 flags are successfully matched to their nations.

• Humans on a Flag: The flag of Belize is unique globally because it is one of the very few national flags to feature human beings as a primary design element (two woodcutters holding a shield).

• A Modern Leaf: The famous Canadian flag featuring the red maple leaf is relatively modern; it was officially adopted in 1965, replacing the Canadian Red Ensign.

• Stars and Stripes: The United States flag has been officially modified 26 times since 1777. The current 50-star version has been in use since 1960, following the admission of Hawaii as the 50th state.
