Class subject: The 7 Arts.

The traditional subdivision of the Arts, being Architecture, Sculpture, Painting, Literature, Music, Performing, and Film.

Painting: The history of painting reaches back in time to artifacts from pre-historic humans, and spans all cultures. The first painting is a cave drawing dated more than 100 000 years ago. If we look at the next 6 arts, they couldnt exist without the concept of painting and drawing.

Sculpture: Sculpture is the branch of the visual arts that operates in three dimensions. It is one of the plastic arts. The earliest undisputed examples of sculpture belong to the Aurignacian culture, which was located in Europe and southwest Asia and active at the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic. Sculptures have been dated back to 45 0000 years ago.

Music: Music is found in every known culture, past and present, varying widely between times and places. Since all people of the world, including the most isolated tribal groups, have a form of music, it may be concluded that music is likely to have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world. Evidence for prehistoric music, are stone flutes dated 15 000 years old. Prehistoric music is followed by ancient music in most of Europe 1700 years ago.

Literature: The history of literature is the historical development of writings in prose or poetry that attempt to provide entertainment, enlightenment, or instruction to the reader/listener/observer, as well as the development of the literary techniques used in the communication of these pieces. Literature and writing, though connected, are not synonymous. The very first writings from ancient Sumer by any reasonable definition do not constitute literature - the same is true of some of the early Egyptian hieroglyphics or the thousands of logs from ancient Chinese regimes. Very early examples include Epic of Gilgamesh, in its Sumerian version predating 2000 BC.

Performing (dancing): Performing arts are a form of art in which artists use their voices, bodies or inanimate objects to convey artistic expression. Starting in the 6th century BC, the Classical period of performing art began in Greece, ushered in by the tragic poets such as Sophocles. These poets wrote plays which, in some cases, incorporated dance. The dance as performing have been used many years before, but the history of dance is difficult to access because dance does not often leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts that last over millennia, such as stone tools, hunting implements or cave paintings.

Architecture: Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings or any other structures. In many ancient civilizations, such as those of Egypt and Mesopotamia, architecture and urbanism reflected the constant engagement with the divine and the supernatural, and many ancient cultures resorted to monumentality in architecture to represent symbolically the political power of the ruler, the ruling elite, or the state itself.

Film (Cinema): Although the start of the history of film is not clearly defined, the commercial, public screening of ten of Lumiere brothers' short films in Paris on 28 December 1895 can be regarded as the breakthrough of projected cinematographic motion pictures. There had been earlier cinematographic results and screenings but these lacked either the quality or the momentum that propelled the cinematographe Lumiere into a worldwide success.

The Eight Art: This is a fun idea from our team on Planeta 42. A computer game include in itself all the seven arts to create one monumental piece of super art: The Computer Game! :) But we are planning a game about it, here it is The 8 Arts Quizz.
